Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh: A 42-year-old Bajaj Finance employee tragically died by suicide on Sunday, reportedly due to overwhelming work pressure and alleged mental harassment by his superiors. The victim, Tarun Saxena, reportedly locked his wife and two children in a room before taking his life.

Tarun’s body was discovered by his house help on Monday morning. He is survived by his parents, wife, and two children. A suicide note was recovered, detailing the immense stress he endured in trying to meet unrealistic recovery targets, despite his earnest efforts.

In the note, Tarun described the mental and emotional strain he experienced, revealing that he had not slept for 45 days, was barely eating, and could no longer cope with the mounting pressure. He apologized to his family, urging them to look after each other. In a poignant line from his note, quoted by NDTV, he wrote, “I am very tense about the future. I have lost my ability to think. I am going.”

He also made a heartfelt request to his parents, asking them to construct a second floor in their house so that his family could live more comfortably.

According to Superintendent of Police (City), Gyanendra Kumar Singh, Tarun, who held the position of area manager at Bajaj Finance, took his life on Sunday using a dupatta. The suicide note reportedly accused his seniors of setting unachievable targets and exerting continuous pressure to meet them.

Family members, including Tarun’s cousin, Gaurav Saxena, allege that he faced “mental torture” at the hands of his superiors, specifically during a virtual meeting held the day before his death. Gaurav claimed that both the regional and national managers verbally abused Tarun during the conference and threatened him with financial repercussions if targets were not met. He added that Tarun had been assigned difficult collection areas in rural regions like Moth and Talbehat, compounding his stress.

Bajaj Finance has yet to issue a statement regarding the accusations.
